Independent NDIS Functional Capacity Assessments completed by experienced Occupational Therapists — designed specifically to provide detailed functional evidence and clear justification for NDIS funding decisions.
An Occupational Therapy Functional Capacity Assessment is a comprehensive clinical report that documents a person's functional ability across all aspects of daily life. For NDIS participants, the assessment is designed specifically to provide evidence of functional impact and support recommendations the NDIA can rely on when making funding decisions.
Our Occupational Therapists assess across the eight NDIS functional domains — communication, social interaction, learning, mobility, self-care, self-management, daily living and household tasks — and quantify the daily and weekly supports a participant requires to live safely and participate meaningfully in the community.
Occupational Therapists are specifically trained to assess function — not just impairment. That distinction matters under the NDIS, because funding decisions are made on the basis of functional impact rather than diagnosis alone. The eight NDIS functional domains map directly to the conceptual framework Occupational Therapists work within every day.
The NDIA frequently relies on Occupational Therapy FCAs as primary evidence in access requests, plan reassessments and home-and-living decisions because the methodology is aligned with how the agency itself evaluates need.
Every Occupational Therapy FCA report from FCA Reports Australia is prepared against the NDIS reasonable-and-necessary criteria and includes:
FCA Reports Australia does not deliver Supported Independent Living (SIL), Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) or Short-Term Accommodation (STA). We are a specialist assessment provider only. That structural independence is increasingly important to the NDIA — and to Support Coordinators looking for credible, conflict-free evidence.

An Occupational Therapy Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) is a comprehensive clinical report completed by an Occupational Therapist to document a person's functional ability across daily life activities. For NDIS purposes, the FCA provides evidence of functional impact and supports recommendations for funding decisions, including access requests, plan reassessments, change of circumstances reviews and home-and-living applications.
At FCA Reports Australia, our assessments are completed by experienced Occupational Therapists with extensive NDIS experience. Reports undergo clinical peer review and quality assurance by our Director team prior to issue, ensuring every report is clinically defensible and NDIS-aligned.
Occupational Therapists are trained specifically to assess function across all aspects of daily life — self-care, mobility, communication, social participation, learning, self-management and household tasks. Their assessment methodology aligns directly with the eight NDIS functional domains, which is why the NDIA frequently relies on Occupational Therapy FCAs as primary evidence for funding decisions.
Our Occupational Therapy FCA reports are designed specifically to provide evidence for NDIS funding decisions. Every recommendation is linked to functional impact and assessed against the reasonable-and-necessary criteria. No NDIS outcome is guaranteed — the NDIA makes its own determination — but our reports are structured to give participants the strongest possible evidence base.
