Functional Capacity Assessment Tasmania — Occupational Therapist-Led NDIS Reports

Tasmania's NDIS participant population spans roughly 570,000 residents across Hobart in the south, Launceston in the north, the north-west coast, and the rural and island communities that historically sit furthest from specialist allied health supply. Distance, ferry travel and limited assessor pool have historically created some of the longest in-person FCA wait times in the country.

Our state-wide telehealth model removes those constraints. Every Tasmanian participant — whether based in Hobart's inner city, regional north-west, the East Coast or King Island and Flinders Island — has direct access to the same experienced AHPRA-registered Occupational Therapist, the same NDIS-aligned report structure, and the same 7-business-day turnaround.

Across southern Tasmania we routinely assess participants in central Hobart, Glenorchy, Kingston, Sorell, Bridgewater and the Huon Valley. Greater Launceston participants — including Devonport, Burnie, Ulverstone, Wynyard and the broader north-west coast — receive the same scheduling flexibility.

In regional and remote Tasmania we work with participants on the East Coast (St Helens, Bicheno, Swansea), the West Coast (Queenstown, Strahan, Zeehan), the Midlands (Campbell Town, Oatlands), and the Bass Strait islands (King Island, Flinders Island).

NDIA operations in Tasmania are coordinated through Hobart and Launceston offices. Our Occupational Therapist-led FCA reports are written to satisfy the national reasonable and necessary criteria and are routinely accepted by TAS planners across both metropolitan and regional regions — no postcode-based variability in standard or timeline.

Our reports are designed to support a broad range of NDIS funding decisions — access requests, plan reassessments, change-of-circumstances reviews, SIL and SDA evidence, AT requests and escalations — but the NDIA always makes its own funding determination.

Tasmania is home to substantial Aboriginal communities particularly through the Aboriginal Land Council of Tasmania and Cape Barren Island, alongside migrant communities across Hobart and Launceston. Our telehealth FCAs accommodate interpreter participation by default and can integrate Aboriginal Liaison Officers, community workers or family members into the assessment process for cultural safety.

Every specialist Occupational Therapist-led assessment we offer is available to Tasmanian participants — SIL assessments with costed Rosters of Care, SDA assessments across all four design categories, Psychosocial FCAs, Autism FCAs, Neurological FCAs and Assistive Technology evidence.

Every service is delivered with the same 7 business day turnaround, regardless of where in Tasmania the participant lives.
